Bits and pieces, comings and goings, triumphs and cock-ups at the original searchable cv database....
Now there is nothing better designed to rile up our hard working administration staff than CV Database members constant ignorance of some basic practices.
If we have said it once we have said it a hundred times....PLEASE DO NOT USE ALL CAPITAL LETTERS WHEN SUBMITTING YOUR CV CARD...!!
We are in the business of ensuring, the best presentation of your CV Accounts.
It simply does not present well and in internet parlance, is considered to be shouting and therefore, dare we say: rude.
We have alllowed a number over the years to go live, but a foot has been put down with some force in 2008, as part of a strategic aim to cut the practice out.
Thus we have refused publication of several recently and judging from the comments received (PG, Delhi India; FT Buxton, UK and TT, Montego Bay, Jamica), such refusals have caused some ahem....consuderable chagrin!!
Regrettably, some of the charmless language used, does not really compel a change of mind on this. The add cv process is very clear and explicit, never mind the point is oft repeated!
We implore members new and established, to desist from this practice, because you will simply be easting your time and half an hour composing some more colourful language in decrying the fact that your Account has been refused.
regards and good jobs hunting

A few somewhat frustrated have prompted this update on the introduction of CVindex 2.0!
Yes it was promised a couple of months ago and as you may have quietly noticed, nothing has been seen of the anticipated beast! Well as is incumbent with these things, there have been some deliberate delays for reasons that will become evident when it is finally introduced.
All interested parties had some meetings where and after some slightly heated debate, it was decided to add further functionality to the Members Control Panel. Now the intelligentsia that populate our extensive Membership will be quick to ascertain that such a decision will have some considerable impact on the need for further testing, reformulating and redesigning of the Applications logic.
Hence yet further delay!!
SBS ( Arkansas, US), Phil ( Nantes), Peter B (Lancs UK), Sarouv F (Mumbai)...seriously though haranguing us with highly charged language is honestly not going to make the thing arrive any faster.
But to answer many a voluable plea, there is simply no point in fixing the upload CV function in advance of this since:
It is also important to reassure existing members, that all your details are planned to be automatically migrated to the new apllication, so fear not folks and you will receive of an emailed announcement, to this effect.
Thus have some more patience since our primary aim is to make the service as powerful as it can be and easy to use…it will be second to none.

Celebrating ten years on the web - The CV Index where the phrase "cv database" was coined ....
Yes...we've had to put up with few Mozilla head bangers (the web browser rival to Internet Explorer), boohooing about how some of the fonts on cvindex are rendering.
Hey guys, take it easy, HTML and its peculiarities are not our fault, nor are we to blame for the differing methods ustillised by our friends at Microsoft or Mozilla Firefox for rending such a notoriously fickle software language.
We have tested some of your comments and have noticed some varying qualities between the rendering of fonts styles. This we should point can be affected by several factors, not least your screens resolution settings; the type of screen you have, the operating system you work with and so the list goes.
It probably does not help you to learn that when we design the user interface, it looks fabulous on our monitors!!
We are (and so far have) optimised CVindex 2.0 for interoperability with both browser types, since they are by far and away the most popular amongst our users (according to our site statistics).
Obviously, those guys and gals who also work with web technology will appreciate where this is coming from. You'll hopefully note that we do make a "perfect scenario" standard that we design to as:
Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.6 & IE 7.x - Screen Resolution 1280 x 1024 and Broadband Speeds
We are very sorry for those that fall outside these minimum frameworks, but these are the minimum offered by new PCs and the trouble with these things is that the bosses told us to design for the future and not the past.
So blame them, cos they pays the bills! Capice?

We have had a number of somehat irate CV Searchers (Employers and Recruiters) who having patiently signed up for membership of cvindex. find that there is no response from us.
Well, we hold our hands up and say "guilty as charged". Short of a somewhat more robust excuse, we can only offer a volume based logjam. Which is ready double speak for trying to catch up in sifting spilt and dodgy applications, form the high quality ones.
It is our attempt at a modicum of quality control and all of you net savvy folks will appreciate the extent to which, people of a somewhat "disadvanraged intelligence" (and some would argue; suspect sanity) take to sending rubbish rather than doing something useful with their lives.
This ties up the rate at which we can expedite new membership approvals, We are as always flat out to rectify this issue.

Having flagged up the news views and reviews section on the cvindex for such a long time, we have collected a mighty archive of related writings.
You'll understand then that there is a considerable build up of such things that would fit a large oil tanker. Please bear with us whilst we develop and populate these sections with your considerable and very gratefully received contributions.
We have tried to write back to all such contributors to explain this situation, but acept our apologies if we have missed you.
We are aware of several members awaiting the publishing of their jobs vacancies. We can only apologise for the delay.
Members will be aware that the Jobs Board is a brand new section for us and that we are undergoing some final tests to the automated jobs board applications. There are still a few bugs that require ironing out on the new system, before it goes live.
Moreover and as yet we have no fixed timetable for the launch of the all new service, but we are expecting lead times to be a matter of weeks.
Meanwhile we are setting a temporary jobs board which will be announced in the next few days, ergo watch this space for more info. We think it will be worth the wait.
Yes the secret is out. We had to disable the Upload the Full CV function for technical reasons. This application is presently (and like everywhere else) undergoing a complete re-write.
Thus and very sensibly instead of fixing the existing code, we have decided to wait until the new code is up, ready and fully tested, which is currently in advanced stages of development, along with the entire application backbone.
It does bring up intersting questions about how well members complete their Show CV Cards. Many members take care to copose well presented applications. Others (mistakenly) adopt the attitude that presenting the briefest of presentations will suffice, provided they have attached their full cv.
The key problem to this strategy is this: the CV and Resumes search engine has been wrtten to take account of so called "key words" in much the same way as the most powerful search engines such as Google and Msn (and other fine search tools). These keywords act as an mechanism for ensuring CV Searchers focus their search more accurately.
So the net effect of being more detailed on your Show CV Card, will generally result in your career biography gets more hits.
CVindex is undergoing some radical alterations at present and this is expected to continue for the next few months.
Users should be aware that the backbone functions still work perfectly normally albeit with some old style user interfaces. We are trying to make the changes as painless as possible, bt cannot think of another way to enact these vital improvements.
We reckon that the wait and changes will be worth it.
CVindex recently received several comments regarding ineterruptions to their application process. Firstly CVindex apologises for this and we should offer a potential explanation:
