The Somerset Waste Action Programme (SWAP) is an outreach education team based at the Carymoor Environmental Centre, near Castle Cary, next to the Dimmer landfill site.
The team has been in operation in Somerset for over 5 years and offers free visits to Somerset's schools and community groups to promote waste minimisation, recycling and composting. The SWAP team is funded by the Somerset Waste Partnership which provides waste and recycling services for all Somerset homes. SWAP has a vacancy for a Schools and Community Groups Officer, which involves working with schools (mostly primary though experience with secondary schools will be useful) and youth groups in Somerset, running workshops and activities. SWAP also attends events and roadshows throughout the county to provide advice and information on waste and recycling services to the general public. This is an excellent opportunity to join a small, award winning team and to help make a difference. We are looking for a person with teaching experience and an enthusiasm for environmental issues.
